How to Bake Daniel Tiger Cake
The first step is to cut one of the cakes into four equal pads; these will be used to create Daniel Tiger’s ears. Put the template on the cakes and before you cut out the shape of ears, cut the corners of two of the pads. Do this so that the two cakes sit nice and flat. Now cut around the ears on the template to get the exact shape of Daniel Tiger’s ears. Now use a little bit of the frosting to secure the bottom layers of the cake to the board, and then add a nice layer of frosting over the top. Once you have placed the top layers on, cover the entire cake with frosting. While you do this, try to keep it nice and neat. Once the cake is properly covered, let the frosting crust a bit. Use a paper towel to smooth the frosting now. It is an easy way to smooth the rough ends.
Put the cake in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes and let it get more firm. Now roll out the brown fondant to a thickness of three millimetres, and it needs to be big enough so that when you place the template on top, there is plenty of fondant around the edges to cover the sides of the cake. Gently place the fondant on the custom cake; you can work on smoothing it out down the sides and trimming off the excess.
Daniel Tiger Cake Color & Shap Highlights
At this stage, add some nice orange highlights using the orange spray mist in short and quick bursts. Keep spraying until you get a nice tone and color on the edges of the face. It will give your cake a lovely sheen as it starts to look like a tiger than a teddy bear. Cut out the eyes from the template and use rolled out black and white fondant to recreate them for the cake. For the little nose and mouth, just form them on top of the template using the red fondant. Place the template on the top surface of the cake now and position the features in the correct places with its help. You can stick the features by using a little bit of water.
Moving on to the darker brown fondant, use the template once again to cut out the centre of the ears as well as all of the stripes. Once you have stuck the rest of the features on the cake, use some very thin rolled black fondant to outline the ears, eyes, and mouth, as well as add some little eyebrows. Finally, add the little white whiskers, and your Daniel Tiger Cake is ready!
