Justin Thomas – Conquering the Fields of Golf




Justin Thomas is considered to be the best golf player in America at the moment. Well, it was a pretty tough road for Justin Thomas as the standards were set pretty high by non-other than the famous Tiger Woods. When you have a competition like Tiger woods, it’s not easy for a person to manage your skills in such a beautiful manner and become America very best. Let’s have a brief look at Justin Thomas early age and amazing career.

Justin Thomas a legend of golf was born and raised up in Louisville, Kentucky. Thomas has always been interested in playing golf. Earlier to his junior year in high school, he participated in the Wyndham Championship on the PGA Tour in August 2009 and became the third-youngest to make the cut in a PGA Tour event, at a very young age of sixteen. Thomas graduated from St. Xavier High School in early 2011. Thomas played college golf at the University of Alabama, where he gained the top spot six times for the Crimson Tide. As a fresher in 2012, he won the Haskins Award as the most outstanding collegiate golfer. He was also included on the national championship team of 2013.

Start of Justin Thomas Professional Career

Justin Thomas took to golf as a professional career in 2013 and earned his tour card. He won his first-ever professional event at the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Championship in 2014. Thomas ended up getting fifth in the 2014 Tour regular season, and third after the Tour Finals, and got his PGA Tour card for the 2015 season. Justin Thomas ending up collecting seven top-10’s and 15 tops-25’s and also gained 4th position at the Quicken Loans National and Sanderson farms championship as his best upshot so far.

At the end of 2015, Thomas earned his first victory on the PGA Tour by winning the CIMB Classic in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This victory was huge for Thomas’s career considering his young age. Following year, Thomas successfully defended his title at the CIMB classic in Oct 2016. In January 2017, Thomas won the SBS Tournament of Champions as his third PGA Tour win. It was a golden period for Thomas, as in august 2017 he won his first major 2017 PGA championship winning by two shots.

Then comes the Dell Technologies Championship and Justin Thomas became the fourth golfer to win it five times. Justin Thomas was a runner up at the Tour Championship losing to Xander Schaufeli in the finals. Despite this loss, Thomas became the FedEx Cup champion on September 24, 2017.

Thomas won his third major event in of 2017-18 season, the CJ Cup in South Korea. Thomas defeated Marc Leishman on the second extra hole of a sudden-death playoff. This was Thomas’s seventh on the PGA Tour.

In February 2018, Thomas won for the eighth time on tour, being victorious at the Honda Classic in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. After this win, Thomas tops the FedEx Cup standings and gained the number three spot in world rankings. Justin Thomson lost in a sudden-death playoff to Phil Mickelson the very following week. He was playing very well throughout the tournament but couldn’t finish it nicely. Still, after his loss, Thomson moved to number two in the world rankings which was his career-best ranking.

Justin Thomson Becomes World’s Best

Thomson had a chance to be the world’s best but he was defeated by Bubba Watson in the semi-finals of WGC-Match Play. He then further lost the consolation match 5 & 3 to Alex Noren which brought him to fourth place. The results extended his lead at the top of the FedEx Cup standings and the gap between him and number one Dustin Johnson was reduced.

Justin Thomson replaced Johnson as the world number one golfer after the 2018 Players Championship. Johnson lost his top spot just after four weeks of winning the FedEx St. Jude Classic.

Thomas qualified for the U.S team participating in the 2018 Ryder Cup in which they were defeated by the Europe team. Overall, Thomas played well as he won his singles match against Rory Mcllroy.

PGA Tour 2018 – 20

Justin Thomson led the Genesis Open by entering in the final round on February 17, 2019. Due to gusty conditions, Thomson finishes second to champion J.B Holmes. Soon Thomson won the BMW Championship at Medinah Country Club on October 20, 2019. CJ Cup in South Korea was only won by Thomson on October 20, 2019. In three-year existence, this was Thomson’s second win of the tournament.

Justin Thomson did it Again

Justin Thomson won the WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational at TPC south wind in Tennessee. Not many people can enjoy the same moments in life twice but this was Thomson’s second time that he had won the event and his 13th career victory on the PGA Tour. This victory also took Thomson to Number One spot in the Official World Golf Ranking for the second time.
