Sheldon Adelson best known as the chairman and CEO of Las Vegas Sands, was also a major mega-donor to Republican politicians. Adelson took a leave from Sands last week as he needed to continue his treatment for lymphoma, which was first disclosed in February 2019.
From struggling childhood in Boston to become one of the world’s richest men as founder and CEO of Las Vegas Sands Corp. He started Sands and was the very first employee of the company, which has since grown to 50,000 employees. On Tuesday, the shares of the Sands opened a touch higher on which the company said “His impact on the industry will be everlasting.”
Sheldon Adelson was best known as the mega-doner of the Republicans in the United States whose millions aided the course of presidential and congressional elections in the post-Citizens United era. Adelson arose as a powerful voice backing Donald Trump at a time when many GOP traditional donors were hesitant to support him in 2016.
After the news of Sheldon Adelson’s death, Trump said that the world “lost a great man” and Adelson will be really “missed.” He further added that Sheldon “lived the true American dream.”
On Tuesday, The Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu stated “Sheldon’s great efforts to strengthen Israel’s position in the United States and to strengthen the connection between Israel and the Diaspora will be remembered for generations.”
Adelson’s funeral will be going to held in Israel, the birthplace of his wife, Dr. Miriam Adelson. There is expected to be a memorial in Las Vegas, where he ran the Venetian and Palazzo casinos. The News Engine
