Should You Buy Assassin’s Creed Valhalla or Odyssey?

Published

on

With the latest instalment in the series ‘Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’ out, many of you AC fans who have not been in touch with the newer games might be wondering where they should restart their journey in the historical playground. I am here to help you out. So, should you buy Assassin’s Creed Valhalla vs Odyssey?  Well, it is a fairly valid question since both the games are similar yet distinctly unique from each other. AC Odyssey itself was an expansion on the RPG elements of its predecessor ‘AC Origins’, but does Valhalla build upon the new Assassin’s Creed experience, or is it different altogether? This is the Question in your mind that should i buy assassin’s creed odyssey.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla vs Odyssey reddit threads have already begun, so I thought I should weigh in and make things simpler for you. First things first, here is a brief introduction of both games to get you all warmed up. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is the latest game in the hit Ubisoft franchise. The game is set in the age of the Viking conquest of England. Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, on the other hand, takes place in Ancient Greek in 431 BCE during the Spartan-Athenian Wars. Just like the time periods, both have very different world settings, and both are drop-dead gorgeous kudos to Ubisoft for that!

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla vs Odyssey Graphics

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla vs Odyssey graphics comparison is a bit futile. There is not a huge leap in the textures and character models. The cutscenes in Valhalla look really good, but Odyssey didn’t do much of a bad job in that regards too. One thing that really stands out about Valhalla is the magnificent views and the incredible draw distance. It makes the map look much bigger in the surrounding area due to the wide view of meadows and mountains covered in snow.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla vs Odyssey Gameplay

Let’s start by talking about gameplay; the beginning of this franchise was very much rooted in action-adventure, social-stealth, and parkour. But then with AC Origins, the franchise had a pivot and became a huge role-playing game which was then further expanded in Odyssey. In Valhalla, it feels a little strange because, on the one hand, it leans more into the RPG style by giving you this massive skill tree where you can invest in skills more suitable to your play style. Then at the same time, they bring the game a little bit back to the roots of the franchise by bringing back social-stealth and use of the hidden blade. It feels more reigned in when you think about the RPG elements in the game. Biggest example of this is the loot that is abundant in Odyssey to the point that it overwhelms you whereas, Valhalla’s weapons and armours feel much more contained.

The quest structure is done way better in Valhalla, Odyssey just throws quests at you in abundance, and it reaches to the point where you can easily lose track of what you want to do. Valhalla sets the record straight from the get-go, you are supposed to make alliances with as many people as possible, and you will only track the alliance that you are focusing on. Besides that, there are side quests that you can just wrap up in four to five minutes. As a result, the quest tracker feels much easier to navigate.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla vs Odyssey World & Setting

AC fans can relate to the point that the worlds of this franchise are the main characters next to the assassins we play as. History is your playground, after all, in these games. We get two very different flavours in Valhalla and Odyssey. Odyssey has a very good story but it is not really something that is defined by the war going on between the powerhouses in Greece at the time. Valhalla does a much better job of leaning into the fact that it is an England where Vikings are just coming in from Norway in mass. They are invading the country, and there is this mix of culture and religions like Christianity and Pagan faiths. Thus, you find villages with these mixed cultures and a mixture of people that eventually connects to the game’s main story. It feels way more defined in terms of the world and the setting than in Odyssey, where you play as Kassandra, who was born in lived in that world, so it feels less fresh to explore the world in her shoes.

Compound it with the fact that you have Athens and Sparta going up against each other in Odyssey, but you see very little of those two forces interacting with each other. Kassandra can just hop back and forth between them with very little on the way of the alliance. In contrast, there are scenes in Valhalla when Eivor or one of his companions is talking to a Saxon or a Christian about how their languages are so different yet similar at the same time. Personally, I have missed this aspect of the AC games showing how cultures just layer on each other over time. That is what history is, a bunch of cultures colliding with each other over and over again.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla vs Odyssey map size comparison is a somewhat interesting one, though. While Odyssey’s map is the bigger one of the two, there are many similar islands and sea area with not much to do. Valhalla’s map is small but more filled, which is a better choice for me at least.

Assassin’s Creed Syndicate Game Debate about Story & Characters

I have mentioned Eivor, Kassandra & Alexios. The two games differ very much in the way they approach how you are going to pick your assassin.  Ubisoft has begun to give you the choice of picking the character gender from Odyssey. It has continued in Valhalla, but you are not locked into your choice for the entire campaign; you can always switch between male and female Eivor. Odyssey doesn’t allow this for story reasons. But assassin’s creed syndicate game debate about the characters, Alexios gets a lot of flack because Kassandra is a much more interesting character than him. Eivor, on the other hand, is a fish out of water. He/She is not familiar to the land so you carry his/her curiosity with you to the unseen lands. Eivor is not as meta as Kassandra, but he/she is still one of the better protagonists in the franchise.

In terms of the world itself, I love exploring the big open-world, but I like returning to the settlement; it is very relaxing to come back and upgrade and have recognizable characters to talk to, just like the camps in Red Dead Redemption 2. You can even romance these characters, it is still shallow in comparison to The Witcher 3 and Mass Effect Franchise, but there is a bit more effort implemented this time for assassins creed odyssey cheat engine.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla or Odyssey

The things you need to know about Assassin’s creed odyssey before you buy. Despite the obvious improvements in Valhalla from Odyssey, it is a hard trade-off to make. Mainly because Kassandra is the new Ezio, she is the protagonist in Assassin’s Creed to beat, and Eivor doesn’t do that. But if that doesn’t bother you, Valhalla is a better game overall. The world-building is excellent, and it uses its setting to tell a very unique story in history that you will not find in other videogames.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla vs Odyssey System Requirements

There is not a huge difference between the specifications required in Valhalla and Odyssey. Still, if you want to check the exact Assassin’s Creed Valhalla vs Odyssey system requirements, you can do it at www.systemrequirementslab.com.

Today, I went to the beach front with my kids. I found
a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She placed
the shell to her ear and screamed. There was
a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear. She never wants to go back!
LoL I know this is totally off topic but I had to tell someone!
