The 6000 83 error code might occur at times when you try to open and restore a company file. It can also pop up when you try to make a backup of the file. How to Resolve 6000 83 error in QuickBooks

1. QuickBooks file doctor- You can also run the QuickBooks file doctor tool on your system to resolve the 6000 83 error. 

a. For that, you will be first required to download the QuickBooks tool hub. 

b. Once you are done with that, proceed to the company file issues tab.

c. After that, you have to open the QuickBooks file doctor tool. 

d. Then go to the drop-down menu. There, you will find the company file option. Click on that.

e. If you are unable to find the company file, you can also browse it in the search menu.

f. Now, you will see a check your file option. Select that and click on continue. 

g. In the next step, you will have to enter the admin user id and password.

h. After that, the company file scan will start. It might take a few minutes for the scan to end depending upon the size of the file. 

i. After the scan is finished, the 6000 83 error would be fixed.

 

2. Turn-off multi-user hosting- If the issue is not resolved by following the above steps, you can also try to turn-off the hosting system on several systems. One the server system should be allowed to host the files. You should turn-off the multi-user hosting system.

a. You have to start by opening the QuickBooks desktop on any one of the systems.

b. There, go to the File menu and click on the utility option. If you see the host multi-user option, you will have to go to check the next system as the system causing an error will display a stop multi-user hosting option. 

c. When you come across the workstation that is causing the multi-user hosting, select that and disable the multi-user mode.

d. Now you will have to carry out the above steps on all the workstations.

e. The error 6000 83 will now get resolved.

 

3. Rename the company backup file- At times, the name of the backup company file comprises special characters or symbols that stops the file from opening. To fix this error, you must rename the backup file.

a. Go to the Windows start menu on your system and then find the file explorer option through the search option.

b. After that is done, you have to open the company file folder.

c. When you click right on the folder, you will see a .qbb extensions option at the bottom.

d. You will find a file rename option there.

e. If the file name comprises any special character or symbol, delete them.

f. Once it is renamed, you can restore the company file and the error will be fixed.

 

4. Resolve the error manually- If the download QuickBooks tool hub option isn’t working for you, you can also try to resolve the 6000 83 error code manually.

a. For that, you will have to first ensure that the QuickBooks software is updated to its latest version.

b. Next, change the firewall settings to allow access to the QuickBooks company files over the Internet.

c. Switch off hosting on all remaining systems. Next, with the help of the QuickBooks data server manager, you will have to verify the hosting mode.

d. Now go to the task manager option on the server. Make sure that QBDNMgrN.exe and QBDBNrgm.exe are present.e. Once that is done, you have to copy the company file on your desktop.f. Then, open the same company file on your QuickBooks Desktop. The error must have been resolved now. Now you can copy the company file to its original location but make sure that it is renamed. Once done with this, you can go to the QuickBooks desktop and open the company file. Thus, the error will be surely resolved.
